Big, bad beauty from Boise, Idaho, Emily Braden covers a lot of ground. Whether she's fronting a symphony in British Columbia or leading an intimate jazz trio in Manhattan, Braden has the innate ability to win the heart of any audience with her powerhouse vocals and striking stage presence.
Winner of New York City's prestigious "Best of the Best" Jazzmobile Vocal Competition, Braden's signature sound is an effortless blend of jazz and soul. Producer Misha Piatigorsky says, "As a singer, Emily has no boundaries. She gives me goose bumps." Braden has performed at notable NYC venues such as the Blue Note Jazz Club (Late Night Groove Series), Smalls Jazz Club, the Kitano and the Iridium Jazz Club as well as on international festival circuits.

Cascade Jazz provides a creative blend of standard, modern and original jazz fused with world and classical music, serving up the mixture with energy and elegance! They've been delighting audiences since 2000 in many Western Washington venues. Jazz in the key of Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Ray Charles, Louis Jordan, Chick Corea and more! With Susanna Fuller, voice; John Chmaj, piano, Brian Gmerek, drums and special guests.
25 LLOYD CHISHOLM
Great local trumpet player who has performed at concerts and festivals all over the world! He developed his Hard-Bop style while working with legends Nat Adderley, Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Drew Jr., Curtis Fuller and Idress Sulieman, among others, for over 30 years in various groups.

Local music students & rising stars take the stage for a jazz jam! Featuring students from the award-winning jazz bands at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, WA, Twin Falls Middle School in North Bend, WA and Chief Kanim Middle School in Fall City, WA. With Chris Clark on bass. Middle schoolers perform at 5pm, followed by high schoolers at 7pm!
20 PETER & WILL ANDERSON TRIO - Special Guest TWIN Saxophonists On Tour from NYC!
"Virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone," (New York Times) and "Remarkable,” (Wall Street Journal), Peter and Will Anderson are one of the most extraordinary duos in jazz performing today. As young as 15 they toured the United Kingdom, playing traditional jazz, swing, and bebop. Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, they were mentored by saxophonist, Texas-native Paul Carr, before attending Juilliard in New York City, where they currently reside.
Peter and Will Anderson's expertise has made them saxophonists of choice for Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Heath, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, and Wycliffe Gordon. They've headlined at N.Y.C.'s Jazz at Lincoln Center, D.C.'s Blues Alley, the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Sarasota FL Jazz Festival, South Carolina's Jazz Corner, Seattle's Triple Door, and more!

7 DAN GREENBLATT & CHUCK KISTLER - Special Guest Saxophonist from NYC!
Saxophonist & educator Greenblatt spent 24 years on the jazz scene in Seattle where he was best known for his performances and recordings with bassist/composer Chuck Metcalf and the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. He worked with many national artists, including Quincy Jones, George Cables, Arturo Sandoval, and Jimmy Heath. He’s since joined the faculty of the Jazz & Contemporary Music Program at The New School in NYC and has published his own book on improvisation. Also with the superb Chuck Kistler on bass!

Featuring small combo performances by the talented jazz students of our 2014 Boxley Jazz Camp! An exciting culmination of their hard work and intensive studies throughout the week. Middle school performers on the 14th, high school performers on the 21st. Reservations highly recommended!

HB is a well-known crooner, funny guy, trumpet-player and songwriter. His popular recordings date back to his "Jet City Swingers: Live" CD which has been a best seller, and his Vegas-style shows have been featured around the world!

1 HAM CARSON QUARTET
Ham and crew play the fun-loving jazz and swing that sets the toes a-tapping! Seattle Times calls Ham "quite simply, the best swing clarinetist in town...one of Seattle's jazz treasures!" With a following of listeners, dancers and jazz aficionados, this regularly appearing group has been given a new chance for exposure! Come out and experience the fun.
8 JON HAMAR TRIO
A versatile artist whose ability to find a tasteful, unique voice in any musical situation has made him a staple in the Northwest music scene. A master bassist with a big, classical tone and fine jazz lines! Hamar performed for four years with jazz and blues great Ernestine Anderson and is currently a regular with Northwest notables Greta Matassa, Jim Knapp, Randy Halberstadt, Dawn Clement and others. He also performs in an orchestral setting on movie soundtracks, as well as at recitals and concerts around the Northwest. Listen for selections from his CD "Basso Profundo.” Joined by Tony Foster, piano and Greg Williamson, drums.
15 SCOTT WHITFIELD & GINGER BERGLUND: THE JOHNNY MANDEL SONGBOOK - Special Event!
Ginger and Scott are an absolutely top-notch jazz vocal duo! They’ve been dubbed "the swingmeister" and "fabulous chanteuse." Think Mel Torme/Jack Jones meets Julie London/Annie Ross. Or Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby!
What sets them apart? Talent and experience in spades - they’re the real seasoned and swingin' deal! Their silky vocal blend, innate sense of swing, and reverence for the jazz tradition, evokes memories of Jackie Cain and Roy Kral. The Great American Songbook serves as a centerpiece of their repertoire, includes some of the great jazz classics, and a sprinkling of original material. With a dash of international languages and flavoring, they are a unique songwriting team of musical gravitas. Joined by John Hansen, piano; Jon Hamar, bass & Greg Williamson, drums.
22 CHRIS MCCARTHY with M.A.R.C. QUARTET
Talented pianist, composer, and educator based in Boston! Originally from Seattle, he is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree from the esteemed New England Conservatory while maintaining a busy schedule as a sideman and frontman in both cities.
M.A.R.C. is an up and coming Boston based quartet. While all four band members come from jazz backgrounds, as a collective they incorporate neo-soul, Brazillian, and rock influences into a sound that is forward thinking and uncompromising. With original material from all four band members, covers ranging from Flying Lotus to Adele, and years of experience playing together in a large range of contexts, M.A.R.C. promises to deliver a set that is as fun and accessible as it is sophisticated and diverse.
29 JAZZ MACHINE
Northwest newcomer & saxophonist Pete Gallio has been a member of the Woody Herman Thundering Herd, also appearing regionally with the Pony Boy All-Star Big Band and many others. He joins the venerable saxophonist partitioner Alexey Nikolaev, a Pony Boy favorite, as they romp through standards unbridled by the shackles of a pianist guardian. Harmony and cultural freedom abound. Underpinned by the earthly Nate Parker on bass, and stable steward Greg Williamson on drums. The experienced musical presentation is reminiscent of Elvin Jone's JAZZ MACHINE, to which the evening of music will be dedicated.

2 KATY BOURNE QUARTET
Fun loving, hard-swingin' Seattle jazz vocalist who approaches music with strong, rhythmic sensibility, an infectious sense of humor and straight-on honesty. Bourne is a steady and unassuming figure on the Seattle jazz scene and performs at nightspots, private functions and festivals throughout the Northwest. Check out her latest album "As the Fates Decide"!
9 PETE CHRISTLIEB with DANNY KOLKE TRIO - Special Guest Visiting from LA
The Danny Kolke Trio is a local favorite, featuring blues, gospel and straight-ahead jazz! Joined by saxophone legend Christlieb, known for his recordings on Steely Dan's "Aja," the Star Trek and Family Guy TV shows as well as Natalie Cole's "Unforgettable!" He played in the Johnny Carson Tonight Show Band to audiences of millions - now he comes to Boxley's for one night only. 16 KELLY EISENHOUR QUARTET
Elegant vocalist specializing in jazz standards, blues and soulful R&B! A wonderful improviser, musician and educator, she features many of her own original arrangements & compositions. Her many accomplishments include productions with Gladys Knight, such as the 2006 Grammy award-winning "One Voice," as well as a tour with the Boston Pops Orchestra conducted by Keith Lockhart. "Kelly Eisenhour is a prolific vocalist...she proves to be a seasoned professional with plenty of talent to handle any piece that comes her way."
23 JAMES CADDELL QUARTET
Caddell’s rich baritone voice presents an entertaining blend of tradition, jazz and contemporary music that has been pleasing audiences for many years! He has extensive experience in soundtrack recording, voiceover work, Broadway and television.
30 TRACY KNOOP QUARTET
A native of the Pacific Northwest, saxophonist Tracy Knoop is one of the best-known jazz artists and teachers in the region. After graduating from the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, he joined the world-famous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and toured with them for ten years. Tracy has performed with such greats as Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Bernadette Peters, Buddy Rich, and Mel Torme. He continues to perform and teach extensively throughout the Northwest and across the country. Check out his “LIVE at Boxley’s” album!
